The origin of the Faerie deck
As my Final Degree Project I decided to make a deck of poker cards, as in this way I could represent female characters in the queens’ figures. The characters that I represent on the cards belong to Celtic mythology and folklore, specifically that of the British Isles. I researched to find characters that would fit the figures, bearing in mind that each suit corresponded to one of the four seasons.
For the illustrations I combined traditional techniques such as pencil drawing to make the sketches and digital techniques for proofing, enlarging the sketches and colouring the clean line made in pencil after scanning it with my Canon LiDE 200.
