Nowadays, thanks to the internet we can access a lot of resources to learn a multitude of things for free. Today I am going to share some pages and accounts that I have found useful. Many of these resources are in English, but you can activate the browser translator and subtitles to understand them better if you don’t speak English.
Websites
Lineofaction
This site is great for copying models and getting better at gesture drawing. They have human and animal models and you can set the timings so that the images change every so often.
Quickposes
This site is similar to Lineofaction. You can copy anything from models to landscapes.
Posemaniacs
It has a lot of 3D human models in different poses that can be rotated for viewing from different angles. Also, a good thing about these models is that they show the muscles, so they are very useful for understanding human anatomy.
Turbosquid y Sketchfab
Here you can find a lot of characters, vehicles, objects,… in 3D, that you can use to practice.
Filmgrab
Frames from lots of films you can use to analyze al learn about composition and colour.
Youtube channels
Proko
This channel is a marvel. Stan Prokopenko has a lot of super useful and instructive videos for artists and I especially recommend his anatomy videos for artists.
Bobby Chiu
This artist has a lot of very interesting videos. He has a list called Little Plant People. Thoughts and Philosophies which is great. He has a lot of tips for artists about how to make a good portfolio, productivity, artistic blocks,… He also has tutorials, interviews with other artists and much more. He is also the owner of Schoolism, which is a platform with online courses (paid), which also has a Youtube channel (free) with interviews to very good artists.
Aaron Blaise
This artist has worked at Disney for many years and has a channel in which he teaches about drawing, painting, anatomy, animation,… He also has many courses on his website, some starting at $5, and even some free resources, such as brushes for Photoshop.
Nathan Fowkes
He is a master of light and colour. He also has paid courses at Schoolism which I have always heard great things about, but which I personally have not taken.

Paid resources
Apart from the channels I have mentioned, it is very easy to find amazing tutorials on the internet, but there are also very good paid online courses, where you can get feedback from great professionals in the industry for a price that if you compare it to what it can cost to go to university, it is great.
I have taken some very good Domestika courses, such as Patricio Betteo’s Pixeles y pinceles. I’ve also heard very good things about Carlos Rodríguez Casado’s Cuaderno de retratos en acuarela. The truth is that there are a lot of them and they often have offers and they are very good.
Another similar site is Crehana. I did some of their courses last year and the truth is that I like Domestika’s courses better, but maybe they have something that you can’t find in Domestika.
There is another site called Skillshare.I’ve never done their courses, but they look very good and you can often find months of trials with the codes that some youtubers provide in their videos. One of the courses you can find is Character Illustration by Gabriel Picolo.
